DirectionsFROM: JOHANNESBURG Total Distance: Approximately 540km from Johannesburg - a comfortable 5½ hr drive. Route 1: 1. Leave Johannesburg on N12 towards WITBANK 2. Approximately 100km from JHB, take the BALMORAL / OGIES OFF RAMP 3. Approximately 3km to OGIES, turn left at the T-junction 4. At the three way stop, turn right 5. From OGIES, take the R545 for approximately 65km to BETHAL Route 2: 1. Leave Johannesburg on N17 towards SPRINGS / LEANDRA / BETHAL - approximately 170km THEN 2. From BETHAL take the N17 for approximately 55km to ERMELO 3. From ERMELO take the N2 past PIET RETIEF (100km), PONGOLA (approx. 100km) and MKUZI (approx. 65km) 4. Approximately 40km from MKUZI, take the Southern MAPUTALAND / SODWANA BAY OFF RAMP 5. Turn left and at the T-junction, follow the ZULU NYALA sign and turn right onto the gravel road (do NOT go left to Sodwana). Travel slowly - the gravel is loose and slippery. 6. Approximately 6km down the gravel road, you will see the HERITAGE HOTEL (green roof or lots of lights at night) If you are going to the Game Lodge: 1. 500m before the Hotel, turn left over railway line - road sign shows ZULU NYALA and MSINENE - please watch out for trains 2. Approximately 3.5km, turn left through the main gate to ZULU NYALA GAME LODGE (there is always a game guard on duty) 3. Follow the signs to the lodge for approximately 2.4km FROM: DURBAN Total distance is approximately 275km - a comfortable 3hr drive. 1. Leave Durban on N2 North 2. Go through the TONGAAT TOLLGATE - you can use your garage card at all the tollgates 3. Go through the MVOTI TOLLGATE - an Ultra City Garage is on the Durban side of the tollgate 4. Go through the MTUNZINI TOLLGATE 5. Pass the RICHARDS BAY / EMPANGENI TURNOFF (do not turn - keep going!) Route 1 to Game Lodge, Heritage Safari Lodge, Heritage Tented Safari Camp and Nyati / Ndlovu Lodges: 1. Approximately 100km from the RICHARDS BAY / EMPANGENI OFF RAMP, ignore the Hluhluwe sign (do not turn off) 2. Approximately 10km past the Hluhluwe sign, follow the ZULU NYALA signs - take the SOUTHERN MAPUTALAND / PHINDA OFF RAMP 3. At the top of the off ramp, turn right over the N2 4. Go 100m to T-junction, then follow the ZULU NYALA sign and turn right onto the gravel road (do NOT go left to Sodwana). Travel slowly - the gravel is loose and slippery. 5. Drive approximately 1km - follow SODWANA / FALSE BAY signs and turn right over the railway line 4. Keep on this road for approximately 13km (ignoring any further False Bay signs) 5. Look out for a left hand turn to NGWENI (small sign) and turn left 6. Approximately 6km down the gravel road, turn right through main gate to the ZULU NYALA GAME LODGE (there is always a game guard on duty) 7. Follow the signs to the lodge for approximately 2.4km Please Note: You are now in a game reserve that is home to many wild animals, including four of the big five.
